Obtaining a high school equivalency degree will open doors to job opportunities, enhance your general knowledge, and also boost your self-esteem. By working with a tutor prior to testing for a GED, Edmonton students can develop their reading comprehension and writing ability — all skills essential toward passing the GED exam.
Through A&D Tutoring, you will work one-on-one with a tutor. Your tutor will encourage your growth and help you to spot and correct weaknesses in your educational abilities. We know that everyone learns differently and we will adjust our methods to best accommodate your needs.
Since 1992, A&D Tutoring has been helping high school-aged students and adults overcome educational difficulties and earn their GEDs.
To be eligible for a GED in Edmonton and all of Alberta, you must be at least 18 years of age (as of September 1st of the current school calendar) and be out of school for a minimum of 10 consecutive months. It is also required that you have fewer credits needed for obtaining a high school diploma.
In order to earn your GED, you must pass all five GED (general educational development) tests. This means a score of 450 or better on each test.
To apply for a GED, you must apply to the principal of the senior high school in the city or town in which you currently reside.
While you may be “getting by” now, earning a GED gives you more opportunities to secure a higher paying job. In many Alberta industries, a GED or high school diploma is a requirement as a condition of employment. With a GED, you can continue your education in vocational training or at university. You will also feel great about yourself!
